Lindsay Hampshire qualified and expert dog traininer

Hello there!

I’m guessing you’re a conscientious and committed owner, keen to improve your knowledge of all things dog! You’ve landed on your paws here!

I’m Lindsay. Your local puppy, dog trainer and behaviourist, total geek and supportive pup parent cheerleader. I want to help you succeed in building a perfect partnership with your dog.

Why? Because I’ve walked in your shoes.

Back in 2011, my husband and I brought home our first puppy Bella. I realised very quickly that I didn’t have a clue how to look after her and raise her properly.

She started to dig up my garden and chew on my furniture.

I became quite stressed, not because of her behaviour, but because I knew it was up to us to ensure she lived an enjoyable life.

I didn’t know how to give her a fulfilling life that made her happy and content.

So, we went to puppy class!

We attended a puppy class with around 20 puppies in a village hall. It was the usual training you’d expect. I asked her to ‘sit’ 100 times, which was boring beyond belief and not very effective!

Bella was already beyond the crucial socialisation period of 12 weeks old. The classes started too late and didn’t give me the human support that I needed to really understand Bella.

I felt just as clueless as before.

Becoming a professional dog trainer and behaviourist

These experiences with Bella and later with my rescue dog Ozzy, gave me the drive to start a career as a Dog Trainer and I’ve never looked back.

After passing the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) Advanced Pet Dog Trainer Instructor course in 2019, I gained invaluable practical experience as a trainer’s assistant.

Then, in 2020, I completed The School of Canine Science (SOCS) Puppy Lab, which really honed in on puppy development, schedule and routine.

After being thoroughly assessed, I was welcomed as a full member of the APDT in 2021.

Following my passion for helping as many dogs and people live happy and contented lives together, I became a Separation Anxiety Pro Behaviourist in 2023.

Then in 2024 I completed the Puppy Development, Care and Coaching Accredited Diploma with Canine Principles and swiftly moved onto my next challenge of becoming a qualified canine behaviourist!

I follow a strict code of practice, using only kind, fair and effective training methods and am committed to my ongoing professional development which means you get not only fantastic training results, but you and your dog enjoy the process!

The start of a new kind of training

Through my experience raising a new puppy without the right support, and my extensive professional dog training, I realised that puppy and dog parents needed more.

My work breaks free of the traditional view of ‘training’ (no village halls here) so that you can get all the support you need to raise your pup with confidence, knowledge, and skill.

This isn’t just about teaching your 4-legged friend obedience skills like sit and stay, it’s about setting you both up to have an awesome life together, so you can thrive and be happy.

My promise to you is that I’ll always stay true to my values.

Give a 1st class service, always

You will feel listened to, understood, and free to speak openly. You’ll never be judged or be made to feel bad or embarrassed.

Support you wholeheartedly

I will show up and be there for you when you need me. I’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed and thrive.

Share my knowledge

I will share my up to date knowledge with you, so that you understand how your dog learns.

Train with compassion

I will always train with kindness. It’s important that you and your puppy feel good throughout.

Start your journey with a professional dog trainer and you’ll not only have a smoother ride, you’ll nip problems in the bud before they develop into future behavioural issues.

I immediately felt relieved to have found Lindsay!

Lindsay was recommended to me by a colleague, after I’d tried contacting a few other dog trainers but kept hitting dead ends. From the very first message, Lindsay was kind, communicative, and very helpful. I immediately felt relieved to have found her!

We did my entire programme by video call, and I didn’t feel doing it via screen was a barrier to learning, at all. I learnt lots, and have finished up feeling a lot more confident – with ideas for development.

When I was looking for a dog trainer, my biggest worry was that I was going to meet someone who would tell me I wasn’t dominating enough, or similar. Lindsay was completely the opposite of that, and has just as much respect for my dog as I do.

Cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks, Lindsay (plus Oz Boz and Bella) 😊
